Initiative 01

Life Dojo helps people find guidance in their field, language, and next step.

Life Dojo is the first active product under Dojo Foundations: a mentorship platform for newcomers, students, and early-career professionals.

Core loop

Advice becomes action.

The product is strongest when it keeps the loop simple and useful.

1

Find

Students browse approved mentors who match their field, goals, and context.

2

Connect

They request mentorship, message safely, and schedule a session.

3

Move

They leave with practical next steps, reflections, and progress tracking.

Why it matters

A lot of career information already exists. The missing piece is often interpretation: what applies to me, what is the local expectation, and what should I do this week?

  • Newcomers may need workplace-context translation, not just resumes.
  • Students may need a safer first conversation before formal networking.
  • Mentors need a clear structure so mentorship does not become messy.
  • Partners need outcome tracking if they run pilots.

Built-in trust direction

Life Dojo is not legal, immigration, licensing, medical, or guaranteed employment advice. The product direction includes mentor approval, boundaries, reporting, admin review, and outcome tracking.

Life Dojo is the system I wish I'd had when I arrived — handpicked mentors who show you the rooms you don't know exist, and walk with you at every stage.

"I graduated from the University of Alberta — qualified, and still rejected, again and again. The opportunities were right there: career fairs, events, people who could have opened doors. I showed up for the swag and the free pizza and missed what they were really for. I got lucky in the end — I networked my way into a manufacturing role I love. But I watched brilliant, qualified friends end up in odd jobs simply because no one guided them. If even one person finds their footing here — to feel genuinely happy and grateful to be in Canada, the way I do now — it will have been worth it."
